Google’s Android head Sundar Pichai was at the Mobile World Congress, where he earlier cleared the rumors of Google bidding for Whatsapp. Sundar Pichai also happened to give some insights about the Nexus 6 smartphone too. He also commented on Nokia X smartphone and said that this is the proof that Google’s Android OS is indeed open and its not a lie, he also went ahead to say that he does not clearly understand Microsoft’s mobile strategy.

Talking of the Nexus series backed by Google, the first Nexus smartphone came from HTC in 2010 and the latest and recent one the Nexus 5 came from LG. Here is the list of Nexus devices, their launch year and their manufacturers.

Nexus One, HTC- 2010
Nexus S, Samsung- 2010
Galaxy Nexus, Samsung- 2011
Nexus 4, LG- 2012
Nexus 5, LG- 2014

The Nexus 6 is rumored to come with a 5-inch Ultra HD display with 2K resolution, there are reports claiming that the Nexus 6 will come with a better camera than the Nexus 5. Google may also enter in the biometric sensor race in smartphones with the Nexus 6 device.

Google’s Sundar Pichai tipped about the launch of the Nexus 6 by saying that it wont hit the stores until June 2014. The last 3 Nexus smartphones were launched in November 2011, 2012 and 2013 respectively, so we can expect the Nexus 6 also to launch around the same time.
